Your first session will focus on building a trusting therapeutic relationship and exploring your needs and goals. We’ll discuss what brought you to therapy and work together to create a personalized plan that suits your healing process. We’ll also review the types of therapy we offer and how they can best support you.

We offer both in-person and virtual therapy options, allowing you the flexibility to choose the format that works best for you. In-person therapy sessions are available to residents of NY. Telehealth sessions are available to NY and IL state residents and held via a secure HIPAA-compliant. Whether you prefer meeting face-to-face or the convenience of therapy from home, we’re here to support you in whichever way is most comfortable.

River Birch Therapy is considered an “out-of-network” provider. However, we can provide a monthly invoice ("super bill") that includes all of the necessary information for a claim to be processed. A “superbill” (receipt of services) is available upon request that you can submit to your insurance provider for possible out-of-network reimbursement for therapy.

The length of therapy varies depending on your individual needs and goals. Some may benefit from short-term therapy, while others may require longer-term support. During your first session, we’ll discuss your expectations and create a treatment plan that reflects your unique journey.

Under the law (Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act) known as the “NO SURPRISES ACT”requires that state-licensed and certified healthcare providers provide a Good Faith Estimate of healthcare charges to every new and continuing client who is either uninsured or does not intend to submit a claim to their insurance for medical services, including psychotherapy services. Details about the Good Faith Estimate (GFE) will be discussed during an initial consultation call.
